Temple Beth Sholom - Assisting Communities in Need

As the assistant superintendent of finance for El Paso Education Initiative Inc., Esther Burnham, formerly known as Esther Furrer, supervised the non-instructional operations of the charter school district for over four years. In this district, consisting of three campuses in El Paso, Texas, Esther Burnham developed, implemented, and monitored operational and financial policies and procedures. In addition to devoting time to her professional career, Esther Burnham is also involved with Temple Beth Shalom, her congregation in Austin, Texas.

Temple Beth Shalom is a Reform Jewish congregation and religious school with close to 400 students. The congregation is also a strong advocate of community service. In fact, Temple Beth Shalom has two committees that organize ongoing projects and events throughout the year. The Advocacy and Community Service committees meet every month to organize projects such as Meals on Wheels, Interfaith Hospitality Network, and Mobile Loaves and Fishes, which prepares and serves food for the homeless.
